Your underground Minecraft world doesn’t feature the same biometric diversity as your above-ground Minecraft world. The Underground Biomes Mod aims to change that.
With the Underground Biomes Mod, players enjoy a totally new underground exploration experience. Now, underground ores will only spawn in certain types of underground biomes. The goal is to make underground exploration more interesting.
To do that, the Underground Biomes Mod adds a total of 57 new blocks, including:
-8 types of igneous rock, including Cobblestone and Bricks
-8 types of metamorphic rock, including Cobblestone and Bricks
-8 types of sedimentary rock
-Half slabs for all brick types
-A coal storage block (only for the mod’s versions for Minecraft 1.5.x and earlier, for whatever reason)
-Lignite, which is a type of low quality coal that is found in large quantities in underground Minecraft
-Fossil piece, which can be crafted into bone meal and is a rare drop item that is only found in sedimentary rock
-Other rare drop items include Lapis Lazuli from deep metamorphic stone; gold and other mod metal nuggets from deep igneous stone; fossils from limestone, chalk, siltstone, lignite, and dolomite; flint items from chert; and clay from shale
This mod supports most other mods, including world gen mods. Although there are 57 new blocks, these blocks only take up 12 different block IDs, so the interference should be minimal. The Underground Biomes mod is also compatible with most popular texture packs.
