The Seasons Mod, as the name suggests, add four seasons to the Minecraft world. Instead of being satisfied with a simple day/night cycle, seasons will now change in your Minecraft world, bringing new challenges and scenery to the surrounding landscape.
Each season – spring, summer, autumn, and winter – lasts for 7 days by default. When creating a new Minecraft session, players will start in the middle of a random season. Seasonal changes are accompanied with an image displayed on-screen.
Just like in the real world, each season is accompanied by unique characteristics. Here’s a brief overview of how each season changes the world:
Spring: Spring is the time for growth, and tall grass and plans will grow on all grass blocks hit by direct sunlight, making for a beautiful flowering effect around the world.
Summer: Summer is the time for thunderstorms and farming. Wheat grows 1.6x as fast during the summer season. However, in desert biomes, the summer sun will damage players who are not wearing adequate protection (like leather). The hot summer sun also destroys many of the plants created during the spring. Days are longer and nights are shorter during the summer.
Autumn: Players receive bonus wheat while harvesting in autumn. The surrounding trees and plants also have a modified red and yellow color to reflect the changing of the seasons.
Winter: Winter is the time for snowy weather. In cold-weather biomes, like the Tundra, Taiga, and Ice Desert, unprotected players will take cold damage during the weather. Days are shorter and nights are longer in the summer.
To make seasonal changes easy for players to understand, the mod’s creator has added two items to the game. The first item is a thermometer, which tells players the current biome and temperature. The second item is a Season Watch device, which tells players the season, current season day, and the number of days left in the season.
If you want to add seasonal variation to your Minecraft world, then the Seasons Mod is the best (and likely the only) way to do it. Install it today by following the instructions below.
