No Cubes Mod for Minecraft 1.7.2

Today I bring to you a curious little mod, very minimal in nature but also quite interesting.  It changes the entire look of Minecraft with one simple alteration; some will hate it, others will love it.  Introducing: No Cubes, by Click_Me.

This mod “breaks the laws of Minecraft”, as described by the creator.  And it is true – it causes all of the terrain blocks to lose their cube-form in favor of more random and natural triangles.  My guess is that some kind of localized noise modifier was applied, but exactly how it was done is far beyond my understanding.

Using this mod does not lower FPS at all, so it is an entirely aesthetic decision.  Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about this mod – on one hand it certainly freshens the visuals of the game, but on the other hand it defeats the one basic element that makes Minecraft unique.

If nothing else, this mod is different, and I do recommend at least trying it out just for the experience.
