New TabbyChat Mod for Minecraft 1.7.10

Vanilla chat function is pretty primitive for a game with millions of players, and chatting on a daily basis on servers with hundreds of players is… well… messy to say the least. Luckily this mod is here to aid that certain problem.

TabbyChat is a useful chat utility mod created by RocketMan10404.

This mod changes and overhauls vanilla chat to include multiple features that are similar to many MMORPG chat.

Primarily, the TabbyChat mod is created to organize chat messages by dividing them to different channels that are accessible via tab-like buttons displayed at the top of the chat box interface. The chat box interface is also overhauled to be draggable and adjustable – allowing players to resize and reposition the chat box as they see fit.

The TabbyChat mod can also organize the chat automatically by searching for new chat channels and PM messages automatically, and selecting appropriate chat -channels.

Along with all that features, the mod is also highly customizable as you can re-organize and can manually create chat channels as desired

Just like MMORPG chat boxes, the TabbyChat also provides useful filters to allow users to highlight matching text with colors and format, send a message to a specific tab, play a notification sound when a message is received, send a global message (vanilla messages are all global by the way), and can prevent any type of message from displaying.

Although the mod is practically very useful, the mod author decided to left the project for the community to maintain, luckily KillJoy1221 is there to take on the challenge, and now the mod is updated to Minecraft version 1.7.10.

With all those features, the mod also has additional features such as an interactive scroll bar, spell-checking and spelling suggestions, mouse controls and keybinds for the mod, and many more. And since this server is only client-side and does not alter any gameplay,  it is safe to use on servers without the need of a server installation – in fact, it is built exactly for that purpose.

Overall, this mod is a significant improvement to Minecraft’s faulty, and primitive chat UI, and I highly recommend this mod to those who play on significantly large public servers or to those who just want to make their chat-life easier.
