Mo Skeletons Mod for Minecraft 1.7.2 / 1.7.10

Out of all the mobs in Minecraft, skeletons are the most dangerous in my opinion.  Creepers can be annoying, and zombies are always plentiful, but skeletons are the only ones who can shoot you into a pool of lava while you are mining without ever knowing they were anywhere near you.  RWBY_MC of PlanetMinecraft apparently thinks this is funny, and has created Mo Skeletons!

This mod adds nine new skeletons to the game.  Each skeleton has different stats and abilities, and can be found in different areas.  So without further ado, allow me to introduce you!

Fire Skeleton

Since this guy’s already on fire, he can’t burn up in daylight.  On top of that, he’ll set you ablaze any time he strikes you.  Luckily, he is hurt by water.  Not sure about snowballs, but I imagine they function as they do with blazes.  Has 20 health and drops a Flame Bone on death.

Frozen Skeleton

Fire skeleton’s counterpart, this mob is limited to spawning in snowy areas and will slow the player with each strike.  If lured into a hot biome, they will melt and die.  Fortunately, they burn up in the sun like normal skeletons.  Has 20 health and drops a normal bone.

Jungle Skeleton

There is nothing really special about this one – just a creepy sword-wielding skeleton in the jungle.  Has 20 health, drops bones, and will not spawn elsewhere.

Captain Jack Sparrow

Just kidding – this is just a normal skeleton pirate.  From the moss all over its body, it seems that it probably just crawled out from under some seaweed.  Will not wander far from the beach.  These skeletons will chase you underwater.  Killing one drops a bone normally, but on rare occasion may drop a pirate sword.

Miner Skeleton

Just what you want to see while hunting for diamonds, right?  These skeletons spawn in caves and, if they manage to follow you all the way out, will not burn in the sunlight.  They drop normal bones and sometimes miner helmets.

Creeper Skeleton

Best of both worlds!  Just like a normal creeper, this mob will run up to you and explode into a cloud of doom and injustice.  May drop entire blocks of TNT when slain, but more likely to drop gunpowder and bones.  The good news is that they burn up in the sun like normal skeletons.

Obsidian Skeleton

These mobs are just as tough to kill as their namesake block is to destroy.  With 60 health, it would take eight swings from a diamond sword to down this skeleton.  It won’t burn in the sun either, nor does it take fall damage.  It’s also slightly stronger than other skeletons.  There’s really no way around it – you just have to hope to find it alone!  Drops obsidian bone when slain.

Ender Skeleton

I think I have seen one of these in another mod before – nonetheless, this mob is just as much of a pain in the neck as you might expect.  The only thing it is missing is creeper behavior.  Ender skeletons will teleport around and strike you from all sides.  Nearly twice as strong as a regular skeleton with 10 more health, they are a force to be reckoned with.  Is hurt by water like endermen and drops ender pearls.  If you want to live, make sure you don’t look at it…

The stuff of nightmares.  Herobrine with half of his flesh melted away.  Well, more like 80%.  Almost twice as robust and strong as an obsidian skeleton and a wither effect on attack to boot, if you encounter Skelebrine you’re honestly probably better off running away.  If you do defeat him, he will drop a nether star and/or bone.

My opinion of this mod

Excellent.  While I hate skeletons, any mod that adds diversity to the game is always welcome.  I have no complaints about any of the mobs, other than minor things such as wishing Miner Skeletons could drop pickaxes, and perhaps have the ability to break blocks.  Would love to see all mobs get the Mo’ treatment.
