Mojang finally announced the release of the much-anticipated Redstone Update pre-release today. There are a relatively large list of changes included in this pre-release, all of which can be sampled by downloading the pre-release today from Mojang.com
Here are some of the most notable changes included in the Redstone Update pre-release:
-Added the Redstone Comparator, which is used in Redstone Logic operations
-Added daylight sensor
-Added weighted pressure plate
-Added nether quartz and ore
-Added Hopper, which will collect items and transport them to containers
-Added Dropper, which functions like a dispenser but always drops the item instead of storing it
-Added the Activator Rail, which activates TNT minecarts which pass along the tracks
-Added trapped chest
-Added new commands like /scoreboard and /effect
-Gave players the ability to give custom names to containers and mobs
-Inventory management has been tweaked to allow players to drag-place items over slots
-Texture packs can now contain animations and will have separate images for each block and item
-Smooth lighting has been tweaked to give it three settings: none, minimal, maximum
-Death messages now contain more detail
-Some mobs are now much more hostile on ‘Hard’ difficulty
-Removed Herobrine
-“Many, many bug fixes”
This patch is designed to improve the usefulness of Redstone and make it easier to make crazy machines and factories without turning to third-party mods. I don’t know about you, but I’m very excited about the Redstone Update.
