Most Minecraft tools are built specifically for the Windows operating system, but MCMap Live was designed solely with Mac OS X in mind. MC Map Live is a fantastic Minecraft mapping tool that allows users to view rendered maps at any scale.
The interface for MCMap Live is very intuitive and minimalistic. The main screen features just a scroll bar and an image of the map itself, although more settings can be accessed from the top menu. For example, users can change the orientation of the mapper, as well as the colors, noise, and texture pack preferences. If you want to use Doku’s RPG texture pack on a particular map, then you can easily do that from the MCMap Live preference menu.
The tool contains a range of useful features that Minecraft mappers will appreciate. There’s a simple block finder menu that instantly illuminates all blocks of a particular color on the map that you’re currently viewing. X-ray mode can also be enabled to give users a deeper look into each and every map they want to edit.
Using the simple scroll bar, users can also view maps at a certain elevation. As the scroll bar zooms in and out, different layers of terrain are revealed via horizontal cross-section, which makes it easy to craft caverns or any types of complex structures.
Interestingly enough, MCMap Live is also touchscreen compatible. Instead of scrolling with the mouse wheel, users can pinch the screen just like they would do on an iPad app. However, there isn’t an MCMap Live iPad app yet. The tool is reserved solely for Mac OS X.
