Minecraft has a virtually infinite game world. For that reason, navigating through that world can be a challenge –especially since the default in-game map is so restrained.
That’s a problem that one modder sought to solve with a mod called JourneyMap 2.0. JourneyMap maps the Minecraft world in real-time as players explore. The map that is created can then be accessed in-game or through a web browser. Some users even access the map on other devices like an iPad or tablet PC.
It’s important to note that JourneyMap 2.0 works in both single player and multiplayer worlds. In multiplayer worlds, players need only have the mod installed on their system, and the server admin does not need to install the mod on the server itself.
Another advantage of JourneyMap 2.0 is that it maps out the entire world, including underground cave structures, the Nether, and the End. Players also access a daylight map, a moonlight map, and a vertical slice cave map.
Furthermore, recent JourneyMap updates have added passive animals, villagers, and pets to the mapping software. Players can also fully adjust the mapping mod’s settings via an in-game menu and choose whether or not they want to display caves, animals, pets, etc.
Ultimately, JourneyMap 2.0 makes it easier to get around the Minecraft world. If you’re frequently getting lost trying to find your way home, or if you just want to go further when exploring, JourneyMap 2.0 is one of the best tools available to Minecraft players today.
And since the mod was just recently updated to Minecraft 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5, there’s no excuse not to try it out today. Follow the installation instructions below to experience the unique map-making tool for yourself.
