If you are looking to give Minecraft a modern look, you have come to the right post. This texture pack by MammerJammer is relatively old (over a year old), but nonetheless is quite well-done and worthy of any player’s collection. Allow me to introduce you to JammerCraft Modern!
There have been many modern city texture packs before and there are sure to be many to come, so deciding between one really comes down to preference. It is also refreshing to simply switch between them once in a while, so perhaps if you already have one, read on and give this one a try.
This pack comes complete with enough textures to create roads, concrete, parking lots, phone booths, street lights and of course fantastic buildings, all shown in this screenshot:
Of course, the buildings are the main focus of any modern texture pack – and Jammer certainly understands this:
The skyscraper in the center with glass windows is just amazing. Can you imagine building a city of these for people to explore, floor by floor? Also, notice the sun – that giant fiery ball of doom looks far more epic than Minecraft’s original sun. This is one of the best screenshots I’ve seen of any city texture pack, by the way – simply a beautiful urban skyline.
Moving on, this pack also introduces various other block and item textures to complete the urban feel:
That shiny steel-looking refrigerator and oven combo looks pretty awesome if you ask me. A few nice touches to compliment an otherwise already solid pack.
Don’t forget trees! Trees and foliage are part of a cityscape as well, if perhaps not as prominent (though you could make them):
And finally, to finish off this review, a video still of an awesome tunnel connecting two parts of a city:
Even with such simple textures, this tunnel looks fantastic. I have fallen in love with this pack and will definitely be adding it to my urban collection.
If you’d like to see this texture pack in action, take a look at this showcase video (mostly a flythrough of the city, BayView Heights):
