The Highlands Mod is a huge addition to Minecraft’s environment generation. This mod adds over 40 new biomes for players to explore, creating a totally unique map filled with new and exciting adventures for players.
While exploring the world generated by the Highlands Mod, players can expect to find new terrain, natural features, tree types, village locations, and more. New biomes include:
-Tropics, tropical islands
Additional biome-specific features have been added to the game, including biome-specific ore generation and better oceans and islands. One feature I particularly appreciated was the ability to create mountains that are 256 blocks high – which is noticeably larger than the default Minecraft mountains. This leads to some spectacular scenery and there’s nothing quite like building a home on the top of a massive mountain.
The Highlands Mod has only been around for a few months but it’s already reached Version 2. The creator of this mod – sdj64 – has invested a considerable amount of time into making the mod great, and this effort shows every time you step into a new world created by the Highlands Mod.
If you’ve grown tired of the default Minecraft biomes and environments, then the Highland mod is an easy and effective way to recapture the spirit of adventure. No new blocks or textures have been added to the game, although certain colors have changed.
