In spite of the name, the Grey Goo mod adds more than just grey-colored goo into the game. In fact, Grey Goo adds ten unique goos into the Minecraft world, and each goo has its own unique characteristics, crafting recipes, and textures.
Goos are labelled according to color. Green goo, for example, is the most basic type of goo included in the Grey Goo mod. Green goo is crafted by simply placing two dirt blocks side by side, and its most useful feature is that other types of goo can be created from it.
Grey goo, on the other hand, will spread out over the terrain. The grey goo texture is unique and instantly recognizable, as it features black jagged lines. As players walk over grey goo, the goo will start to expand over the surrounding terrain and cover virtually everything it comes across.
Purple goo is similar to grey goo, although it creates pits wherever it spreads, resulting in strange looking terrain features across the Minecraft world.
So how do you clean up these infectious goos? Well, players can use the ‘cleaner’ goo – red goo – in order to destroy goo infections that have spread across the terrain.
Orange goo, like purple goo and grey goo, will also naturally spread out. However, instead of spreading horizontally across the terrain, orange goo will spread vertically downwards. Blue goo consumes water and white goo spreads through air.
With the Grey Goo Mod 1.6, the mod’s creator has also added a mining goo by popular request. Brown goo will sink into the ground to expose any ore blocks that it encounters. Once the goo has gone to work, players can simply follow in its wake to collect all of the ores they need.
Finally, yellow goo is a destroyer of worlds. After placing a single block of yellow goo, that goo will expand across the world by falling. It works like self-replicating sand, so if you put a block in a cave network, then it will continue to fall in a downward direction until, as the mod’s creator describes it “your world is consumed from the inside out.”
Goos will also interact with each other, and that’s where the Grey Goo Mod becomes interesting. Combining white goo and green goo, for example, will create a rapidly expanding dome of goo around the player. This goo pushes away mobs, making it an effective way to defend a home.
Meanwhile, combining red and brown goo will result in a powerful mining tool that rapidly expands into the earth and leaves all minerals and ore blocks in its wake. It works faster than brown goo and will rapidly explode downward.
By combining the various types of goo included in Grey Goo 1.6, players can create four unique types of blocks. These blocks are called tumor, darkness, plague, and The Great Destroyer. Plague blocks will chase the player around the map, while The Great Destroyer creates a massive pillar of destruction pointing towards the clouds which eventually destroys the world.
The Grey Goo Mod is one of the most unique Minecraft mods available today. It’s creative and highly entertaining. If you want to watch goo transform your entire Minecraft map, then check out Grey Goo 1.3.2 today!
