Previously, I’ve featured some incredibly intricate texture packs – high definition renderings, hand-drawn images, and a fabulous Easter theme – but this pack caught my attention for its sheer beautiful simplicity. Behold GarkCraft, one user’s attempt at making already simple graphics even cleaner!
I understand that not everyone will be receptive to this type of texture pack, however those who are will find it to be quite excellent. I am as much of a fan of hyper-detailed textures as the next modern gamer, but there is a certain beauty in this simplicity:
The best part of simple graphics is that they reduce the perceived visual clutter in environments that would normally feel chaotic and confusing. This scene, for example, has a lot to take in, but is ultimately easy on the eyes and very clean feeling:
That is indisputably one of the most beautiful screenshots of a Minecraft landscape I have seen. I suspect that anyone who is open to the pixelated universe of Minecraft has already made the graphical plunge, so do yourself a favor and witness this pack in all of its glory.
