Friends Overlay Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5

Many people play Minecraft for the social experience. There’s nothing quite like building a Minecraft world with your friends, and a new mod called Friends Overlay makes interacting with friends as easy as possible.

Since Minecraft doesn’t have a built-in ‘friends’ feature or any type of social connections, Friends Overlay is an ambitious project that adds these features into the game. Now, players can simply press F4 in order to open a Friends menu.

From the Friends menu, players can view their list of Friends or add new people that they meet in a server. After adding somebody as a friend, players can see when they’re online and what type of game they’re currently playing. For example, if it says ‘Single’ beside the player it means they’re playing single player mode, and if it says ‘Server’ beside the player, it means they’re playing on a server.

Once you’ve added somebody as a friend, you can send them a message. After receiving a message, a notification pops up on the player’s screen. You can use this message to invite players to a server or just talk to people you’ve met in Minecraft. Friends Overlay also integrates with Twitter to make posting messages as easy as possible.

The main catch with this mod is that other players also need to have Friends Overlay installed. Since the mod is relatively new, not everybody will have Friends Overlay installed. But if this mod continues to catch on, it won’t be long until most dedicated Minecraft players are using Friends Overlay to connect with the players around them.

If you play Minecraft a lot and want to connect with the people you play with, then the Friends Overlay mod is a must-download. Check it out today to make Minecraft a more social experience.
