Frankenstein Pickaxes Mod for Minecraft 1.7.10

In the real world, tools are made out of multiple materials all the time.  So why not in Minecraft?  Welcome to shirtandtieler’s mod Frankenstein Pickaxes, where you can create pickaxes out of and combination of the five different usable materials – wood, cobblestone, iron, gold, and diamonds!

The recipes are not terribly complicated – simply replace one or two of the materials in your pickaxe with something else and you will have a brand new fused pickaxe.  Note the names of each item in the screenshot above:

  • Bi-Fused indicates two different materials;

  • Tri-Fused indicates three different materials;

  • Mystical indicates the usage of gold, providing better enchantment results;

  • Useful indicates the usage of diamond, yielding a more durable item;

  • Efficient indicates the usage of iron, giving quicker mining speeds.

The best part (to me) about this mod is that there is actually a visual effect for each combination – you can see the precise order of your materials in your pickaxe:

Customization is one of my favorite elements of Minecraft and games in general, so this is pretty huge in my book.  Some other uses of this mod include:

  • Conserving materials: use two iron and one stone when starting out to save up iron faster, or two iron and one diamond to mine obsidian without throwing away all of your diamonds.

  • Making epic pickaxes: iron, gold, and diamond combined yields triple bonuses, making your pickaxe faster, more durable, and more magical.

  • Being resourceful: ever find yourself with a single cobblestone or plank of wood left, but can’t bring yourself to toss it away?  Problem solved!

That’s really all there is to this mod.  Simple, useful, and fun – a great addition to any game world or server.  Give it a download!
