Many people dislike farming tress in Minecraft. It can be a time-consuming and painstaking process. A modder named SirSengir became so upset with how long it was taking to farm trees that he created the Forestry for Minecraft mod.
Forestry for Minecraft aims to automate the tree farming process as much as possible. However, the mod also aims to do this without making it too easy for players to farm trees. So Forestry for Minecraft isn’t some workaround mod. Instead, it simply takes time out of the tree farming process.
How do automated tree farms work? Well, players need to create two machines: an arboretum and a logger. The arboretum will fertilize the soil on your farm and automatically plant trees. Meanwhile, the logger chops down fully grown trees and collects any saplings that may have dropped on the ground.
In order to keep their farm operational, players will need to provide soil materials and engines. Once the automated tree farm is setup, players should be able to access a reliable stream of wood and – more importantly for many players – charcoal.
It’s important to note that Forestry for Minecraft requires Buildcraft in order to fully automate the tree farming process. There are also a number of different texture packs included in the mod’s forum thread that change the appearance of materials in the Forestry for Minecraft mod.
