Finding mob spawners in caves is pretty exciting, mostly because it means treasure is nearby. Some players (such as myself) are more interested in the spawners themselves, however. Some like them for their exp farming capabilities, while others take advantage of them in roleplaying (or other) situations.
If you have ever wanted to create your own spawners, EzSpawner is the plugin for you. Brought to us by adam561, this plugin adds some new in-game items and functionality that make these once static objects very malleable.
The primary item used in this plugin is the Spawner Wand, crafted with a diamond, a stick, and a block of iron:
Right-clicking on a mob spawner with this wand will turn it into an item which you can then pick up and place wherever you wish. Doing so will “reset” the spawner, making it temporarily useless. However, you will also be given a mob egg of whatever was in it.
Mob eggs must be used to set the mob for spawners. This can be done by holding a mob egg and left clicking the empty spawner. Mob eggs can also be acquired by throwing a normal chicken egg at a mob to capture it.
This system allows you to create any kind of spawner you wish in a way that is still true to the actual gameplay of Minecraft (rather than typing in commands). Non-hostile mobs, such as sheep or villagers, can also be spawned like this, creating many possibilities.
