Anyone that has ever played an MMORPG probably understands that the most entertaining part is being able to make yourself unique. Kelco_K22’s Custom Sword mod provides players with some more flexibility in customizing their weaponry, adding different hilt types, colors, and blade shapes.
Creating different swords requires three items – a hilt schematic, a blade schematic, and the original sword. The sword can be any material (wood, stone, iron, gold or diamond). The crafting recipe is shapeless, so simply place a hilt and blade schematic in with a sword and see what happens! Schematics do not disappear when used, so you can try out as many combinations as you like.
The crafting recipe for a blank schematic is two pieces of paper. Kelco_K22 had amazing insight into make this mod fun – you must wield a blank schematic and attack a mob with it to get a usable schematic. Each mob yields a different schematic – Squids, Zombies, and even Withers!
Most of the sword designs are aesthetic, but some give special abilities. The Buster Blade schematic, for example, will give your sword a unique bonus. Whenever an enemy is attacked, the Strength II enchantment is bestowed on the player for a few seconds. This is enough strength for a wooden sword to slay a pig in a single strike.
The mod also introduces three gems which give swords further abilities – flame, wind, and frost gems. These gems are mined from new ores which have been added as well, with the same respective names. They must be crafted on to the end of custom swords:
Their abilities can be combined with shape abilities:
Wind gem adds an enormous knockback rate.
Flame gem sets enemies ablaze on contact.
Frost gem greatly slows enemies.
Many of the hilts and blades are derived from other games – such as the Buster Blade mentioned previously, as well as keyblades from Kingdom Hearts.
