One of the most annoying parts of multiplayer Minecraft is the fact that players cannot lock their chests or prevent other players from accessing them. This can lead to serious griefing problems and the loss of hundreds of hours of resource gathering work.
That’s why the Chest Protect plugin is such an excellent mod. This plugin will:
-Protect your chests from being broken into
-Protect your chests from being broken no matter what happens to them
-Punish griefers who attack your chests, as your chests will now do damage to whoever is attacking them
When Chest Protect is running on your server, it constantly scans for players putting down chests. When a chest is put down, the plugin will automatically store that chest info along with the player’s name. If someone with a different name tries to access that chest, it will lock and defend itself.
The only people who can now access the chests are server admins. Other than that, your chest is unbreakable no matter how much TNT, fire, or water someone throws at it.
Here’s how to use this plugin with commands:
-/protect: This will protect whatever chest you’re currently looking at
-/protectadd: Add a friend to your list of people allowed to access the chest
-/protectrem: Removes a friend from the list of people allowed to access the chest
By the way, the next Minecraft update (possibly 1.8) will feature lockable chests, furnaces, and other resource gathering tools. That will effectively make this mod obsolete, but you might as well download this plugin today before Minecraft 1.8 gets released, because it could be a little while.
If your server is having problems with griefers, or you just don’t trust other players on your server, then this could be the perfect mod for you.
