Cave Control Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5

I find exploring and stumbling upon interesting cave patterns to be the primary element of fun in Minecraft.  Whether you agree or disagree, Zeno410’s Cave Control mod can help you tweak your world generation to suit whatever mood you are in.

This mod allows players to alter the minimum and maximum size of caves, as well as reduce or increase their quantity in the world.  With this type of control, players could, for example:

  • Create a mountainous (i.e. non-flat) world with very few or no caves.

  • Generate terrain that is full of tiny caves.

  • Populate a world with only a handful of caves, but make them enormous.

  • Slightly alter cave generation to be more frequent if more adventure is desired, but not so much that it ruins overworld exploration.

In extremes, this mod is great fun to play around with; in moderation, it is a fantastic tool to tweak each world to your liking.  Note that each world’s Cave Control configuration is saved separately from the last, meaning that you can have multiple worlds with different cave properties.  By default, the mod generates caves using the algorithms established in Minecraft version 1.6, but this can of course be changed.
