If you are bored of Minecraft’s default gameplay and are a fan of the tower defense genre, this minigame is definitely for you. SethBling has adapted Minecraft with some clever mapmaking to create a smooth and insanely fun tower defense dubbed Blocks vs. Zombies.
The map comes with a manual, able to be read by right-clicking the item in the hotbar:
This manual will provide more detailed instructions; only the main features will be discussed here.
The game supports any number of players, but two to five players are recommended. Each player begins the game with a bow, and the game will not start until the “Start Game” button is pressed:
Zombies will begin to spawn from the far end of the level. Players must defeat the zombies with their bows to gain points and gold:
Killing an enemy yields points, while team kill streaks yield gold. Points are used to purchase various in-game defensive structures. For example, pressing a button on the Barrier wall will deduct 10 points from the player and spawn a barrier in the position corresponding to its color:
Standing on the pressure plates in the center of the stage and shooting a tower on the side activates a dispenser filled with arrows:
Points can also be spent to purchase cannons on the wall opposite the barriers.
Gold can be used to purchase advanced items from the shop at the back of the stage:
These items range from Iron Golem spawners, to magical devices that quickly dispatch zombies, to bows with enchantments. Note that gold can be traded amongst players – cooperation is key in this map!
If a zombie falls into the pit of lava below the players, the game is over:
Zombies cannot simply walk into this pit; they must be pushed in by another zombie. This acts as a balancing mechanic, giving players a chance to survive even if one zombie makes it to the end.
There are various types of zombies, each with different properties, as well as other items to buy from the shop. Try this minigame out for yourself to find out what else it has in store!

Note that this map will only work with vanilla Minecraft version 1.6.2 – do not run this map on a later server or any server with mods.
