Add more lush and green to your Minecraft world without breaking immersion or adding new things with Better Foliage mod.
Created by username OctarineNoise, The Better Foliage mod features aesthetic improvements such as reefs, corals, grass, leaves, and more. Most of these features are re-implementation of the mod Better Grass & Leaves that was not updated since Minecraft 1.6.4.
This client-only mod only improves the game visually and does not add anything that affects the vanilla gameplay – this makes it compatible to be played on a server without the need of installing additional server files.
Aside from the extra lush of the grass and tree leaves, this mod also adds a lot of little things. Two of my favorites are the extra lily pads and reeds which in my opinion are really needed in Minecraft.
Better Foliage also features falling leaf particles, better cactus, Netherrack vines, souls rising from soul sand(!!), and connected grass textures.
What I love most about this mod is the fact that it is very modular and highly configurable. It features its very own GUI (graphical user interface) to allow users to adjust many aspects of the mod, such as; size of the leaves and grass, off-set of the leaves, height of the grass, flower chance of the lily pads, and chance of reeds and algae to spawn in the water.
The mod looks even better with shader packs installed, although you may need to configure the shader setting a bit for maximum compatibility.
You’ll be happy to know that the mod can also use textures provided by other resource packs for better integration.
All in all, Better Foliage is a must-have mod that dramatically improves Minecraft’s visuals and immersion with only slight to no performance loss. The mod is currently updated to Minecraft 1.7.10, but hopefully the author will continue to update this wonderful mod to Minecraft 1.8 and onward.
